My own school district, District 75 in New York City, has posted a number of books visually and otherwise adapted for students with autism. Included are many books with Mayer-Johnson symbols. These are a great – and free – resource for teachers.
Some are perfect for printing and reading. Others include audio and are nicely suited for viewing on the computer. You’ll find the various software requirements on District 75’s adapted books main page. For a full catalog of the free book downloads, follow the link from there, or go straight here. And, not to leave teachers without the tools to adapt their own books, District 75 even has instructions for creating your own.
